The airport in Hobart is 22km away from the centre of the city (35 min drive). There are three airlines which provide regular connection with other important cities on the mainland.
There is no train connection from the mainland to the island which is easy to understand. However there are very comfortable ferry connections directly from Sydney to Devonport and from Melbourne to Devonport across the Bass Strait. What is more, every spot on the island is easily reachable by car or bus due to the vast road system.
